Summer (June-August)
Peak season with warmest weather and all trails open. Expect crowds at popular sites. Ideal for hiking and wildlife viewing. Book tours 2-3 months ahead.
Fall (September-October)
Stunning golden larches and elk rut. Fewer crowds and comfortable temperatures. Excellent photography opportunities. Our most recommended season.
Winter (November-April)
Quiet parks with winter wildlife. Some roads closed but accessible areas offer serene beauty. Best for experienced winter travelers.
Spring (May)
Bears emerging, waterfalls at peak flow. Variable weather with possible snow. Budget-friendly with lower accommodation rates.
How to Get There
By Air: Calgary International Airport is closest (90 minutes to Banff). Vancouver International is 8 hours by car.
By Car: Trans-Canada Highway provides main access. Rental cars recommended for flexibility. Winter tires required November-April.
Travel Times: Calgary to Banff: 1.5 hours | Banff to Jasper: 3.5 hours | Jasper to Yoho: 4 hours

Park Passes & Fees
All visitors need Parks Canada passes. Daily pass: CAD $10.50 per adult. Annual Discovery Pass: CAD $72.25 per adult (valid all Canadian national parks). All our guided tours include park entry fees. Purchase passes at park gates or online at parks.canada.ca.
Important Park Regulations
- Stay on designated trails to protect fragile ecosystems
- Maintain safe distances from wildlife (100m for bears, 30m for others)
- No feeding wildlife - it's illegal and dangerous
- Pack out all garbage - Leave No Trace principles
- Respect trail closures and seasonal restrictions
- Drones prohibited in all national parks
- Pets must be leashed and are restricted on many trails
